A Not So Gentle Nudge from Microsoft!!

Loryx Systems’ web applications are implemented with the latest Microsoft .NET application development technologies. These applications are designed and intended to function with Internet Explorer (IE) from Microsoft. IE is built into all ‘current’ Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems. It’s no secret that Microsoft pushes its latest Windows version with the hope that everyone will upgrade and forget the earlier versions. And, as anyone with an older version probably knows, Microsoft provides support for only so long. Now, Microsoft has codified its support listings into a Product Lifecycle Dates page on the company’s Microsoft Product Support Services Web site.

Loryx Systems supports its applications with all ‘active’ versions Windows. In turn, we can only support our applications to the extent that Microsoft supports us. Given such, we are not responsible for support on expired versions of the Windows operating system.

Database server	The following are system requirements for the Database Server:
	■ Processor: PC with a Pentium® 4 Xeon-class processor, 3GHz (recommended: multi-processor)
	■ RAM: 4GB
	■ Hard Disk: Depends on anticipated amount of data. Recommend at least 16-32GB.
	■ Hard Drives must be 15,000rpm SCSI.
	■ Hardware based RAID controller
	■ Operating Systems: Windows 2003® Server R2 (Standard or Enterprise)
	■ Database: Microsoft SQL Server® 2005 & SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services
	Note: The database can be installed on the web server instead of being a standalone server. However, this is not recommend for installations with over 50 users.

Web Server	The following are system requirements for the Web Server:
	■ Processor: PC with a Pentium® 4 Xeon-class processor, 3GHz (recommended: multi-processor)
	■ RAM: 4GB
	■ Hard Drives must be 15,000rpm SCSI.
	■ Hardware based RAID controller
	■ Operating Systems: Windows 2003® Server Standard R2
	■ Web server software Internet Information Services 6 (IIS)
	■ Required Software: Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 & 2.0
	Note: In order for authentication to take place, the web server and the SQL Server must meet one of the following requirements. - Dedicated Web Server is recommended (can not share with SharePoint Server) - Be on the same computer (only advisable for 50 or less users) - Be on the same local area network

Client Requirements	The following are requirements for the Client Computer:
	■ Processor: PC with a Pentium® 4-class processor, 2GHz
	■ RAM: 2 GB
	■ Video: 1024 x 768, High Color 16 bit
	■ Operating System: Windows XP Professional SP2 or Windows Vista Business
	■ Required Software: Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0
	■ Required Software: Microsoft Office 2003 or Microsoft Office 2007
	Note: For the Photo ID and Signature Capture, USB ports are required.
